Teaching Practice
School-based teaching practice is the cornerstone of the B.Ed. programme. Students undertake two structured internship blocks in partner schools under the supervision of school mentors and DUC faculty. Teaching practice develops real classroom competence, lesson planning skills, and professional confidence.
School Internship I (Semester II)
A block teaching practice of approximately 4 weeks in a partner school. Students observe experienced teachers, plan and deliver supervised lessons in their method subjects, and maintain a reflective teaching journal. Assessment is by school mentor and DUC supervisor.
School Internship II (Semester III)
An extended block teaching practice of approximately 16 weeks — the primary practical component of the programme. Students take full responsibility for a class, plan and deliver lessons independently, engage with the school community, and complete community engagement activities. This internship carries 8 credits.
Lesson Planning
Students prepare detailed lesson plans for every supervised lesson, incorporating learning objectives, teaching-learning activities, assessment strategies, and differentiation for diverse learners. Lesson plans are reviewed by supervisors before delivery.
Supervision and Assessment
Each student is supervised by a DUC faculty member and a school mentor. Assessment covers lesson delivery, classroom management, student engagement, reflective practice, and professional conduct. Feedback is provided after every observed lesson.
