Physical education is an integral part of the B.Ed. programme at DUC. Students participate in outdoor sports and physical activities on the campus grounds, benefiting from the clean hill air and open spaces of Takdah. Sports activities include indoor and outdoor games, yoga, and physical fitness sessions. Participation in sports helps student-teachers develop teamwork, leadership, and the physical stamina required for an active teaching career.

DUC celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Darjeeling hills through a vibrant calendar of cultural events. Annual cultural programmes, Teachers' Day celebrations, Independence Day and Republic Day observances, and festival celebrations bring the campus community together. Student-teachers are encouraged to organise and participate in cultural activities — developing their creativity, communication skills, and cultural sensitivity, all of which are essential qualities for an effective educator.

The small cohort size at DUC — with 100 seats per academic year — creates an intimate learning community where students know each other and their faculty well.
