Facilities
Academic Life at DUC
The academic facilities at DUC are designed to support the diverse learning needs of B.Ed. student-teachers. From a well-stocked library and modern classrooms to an ICT laboratory and a dedicated resource room, every space at DUC is purposefully designed to foster inquiry, collaboration, and reflective practice. The campus setting in Takdah — quiet, green, and away from urban distractions — creates an ideal environment for deep academic engagement.
Library & Reading Room
The DUC library houses a curated collection of books, journals, and reference materials covering education, pedagogy, child psychology, subject methodology, and the social sciences. The reading room provides a quiet, well-lit space for individual study and research. Students have access to prescribed textbooks, BSAEU syllabi resources, and a growing collection of educational periodicals. The library also maintains a reference section for NCTE guidelines, BSAEU regulations, and institutional documents relevant to the B.Ed. programme.
Classrooms & Seminar Hall
DUC's classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with whiteboards, projectors, and audio-visual aids to support interactive teaching and learning. The seminar hall serves as the venue for guest lectures, student presentations, micro-teaching demonstrations, and institutional events. Classroom layouts are flexible to accommodate group discussions, peer learning, and collaborative activities — all of which are integral to the B.Ed. pedagogy.
ICT Laboratory
The ICT laboratory at DUC provides student-teachers with hands-on experience in educational technology. Students learn to integrate digital tools into lesson planning, create multimedia teaching aids, and use educational software relevant to school-level instruction. The lab supports the 'ICT in Education' component of the B.Ed. curriculum and prepares graduates to teach effectively in technology-enabled classrooms.
Psychology & Science Resource Room
A dedicated resource room supports the practical components of the B.Ed. programme — including educational psychology experiments, science demonstration materials, and teaching-learning material (TLM) preparation. Student-teachers use this space to design and create innovative teaching aids, models, and charts for their micro-teaching and school internship lessons.
